This spring we teamed up with AustriaTech and the Bundesministeriums für Verkehr, Innovation und Technologie* to innovate the urban space. Over a period of 3 months we will support 3 teams in the development of their ideas and concepts, right here at sektor5. The chosen teams will not only get a workspace at our co-working space, they’ll be part of an accelerator program that offers workshops with leading business experts and get a chance to meet and greet with potential investors. The highlight however will be the presentation oft he final results during the European Forum Alpbach in August.
The call for proposals was open until May 27th. After that it was up to this jury to select the projects that best fit the contest:
Evelinde Grassegger | bmvit, Tobias Göllner | Pioneers, Viktor Pasquali | aws i2 Business Angels, Yves Schulz | sektor5
Martin Sprengseis | AustrianStartups / bluesource, Ilse Stockinger | Stadtwerke, Martin Rusz | AustriaTech, Anton Falkeis | University for applied Arts in Vienna
The winners of the jury session are WeTaxi, Porterbike and GuideMe**. We kicked-off the Accelerator Program with a screening day to determine what workshops will best prepare the candidates for the big day in August. Think: product development, business modeling, customer segmentation (led by blossom.io), idea refinement (lead by Gerald Stang from mySugr) and specialized logistics workshops by Florian Selch from Morawa.
We’ll make sure to write semi-frequent updates from the Urban Innovators Challenge, so stay tuned.
