The non-elite, non-prestigious (or is it?) SaaS Club Vienna led by Lukas Fittl (pganalyze, a.o.), Florian Dorfbauer (Usersnap) and Thomas Schranz (blossom.io) meets at sektor5 on an almost monthly basis. Time to get to know them a little better.
When did you start the SaaS Club and why did you decide to start it?
Lukas: Bit more than a year ago. Running a business can be lonely, and I’ve always enjoyed conversations with certain members of the community who run similar SaaS (Software as a Service) businesses with a subscription model.
In addition I’ve found big meetups to be rather inefficient at talking about the actual issues – the idea was to just get 10 founders together, sit around a big table and have one conversation.
How do you stay in contact with your members? (meetup.com? Mailinglist? Twitter? …)
Florian: We’re simply using a mailing list and it works quite well for our purpose.
How many members does your SaaS club have today and how many show up at meetups on average?
Florian: On average we’re 10 people showing up – the group consists of 20 people
How much time do you spend moderating your group on a weekly basis?
Florian: Max 10 minutes, I’d say. Conversations happen primarily at the meeting itself.
When is the next meetup and do you already have a preliminary calendar you can share?
Florian: We’ll meet on 14. January and 26. February 2015 (starting 18:30, red) – anyone actively involved with SaaS topics is invited.
Lukas: We’ll try to get it going more frequently and potentially open up to more people – provided you’re running a SaaS business, drop us a line*!
