Day 3 meant judgement day and in preparation thereof started with a pitch training right after breakfast. What better way to prepare for the final pitches, right? Then it was off to work, stressing over malfunctioning hardware and a last chance to ask the mentors for their help.
Lunch (and dinner) from Rita bringt’s was sponsored by the Rat für Forschung und Technologieentwicklung – who also generously sponsored two tickets to the ‘Wissenschaftsball’ to the winning team. After lunch it was a tech checks:
The teams pitching were:
Bat Suite – a (super)sonic wearable for visually impaired people that will help them navigate using sound bites, making the cane obsolete
Heart Shield – predicting cardiac arrest with software that integrates with existing wearables
Ask Alfredo – recommendation app for things-to-do for students
Hey Beauty – easy appointments at beauty salons and hairdressers
WhoShowersFirst – a platform to search and find the ideal room mate based on soft skills like sociability and tidiness, rather than hard facts, making empty (costy!) rooms a problem of the past
Second Chance – teaching digital literacy to convicts for a better chance for further developing themselves and taking on paid projects once they’re out – decreasing the odds of them falling into old patterns
Slearn – more effective studying for scholars and students with planned breaks
TrackIT – anti-theft hardware device to track the whereabouts of your bike
Second Chance won our beautifully 3D-printed Startup Weekend Vienna Trophy for the winning concept, a whole bunch of HappySocks (sponsored by Back-Bone Marketing), FounderTalks.org offered 2 tickets to their conference, they received a PR-package (a €700) from PRISCILLA & PAT, the Rat für Forschung und Technologieentwicklung offered 2 tickets for the Vienna Science Ball and they’ll get an exclusive feature on Inventures.eu!
WhoShowersFirst.com came in second, will be featured as a Startup Pick on inventures.eu and we offer them 9 hours free use of our conference room (a €220) to use to further develop their product in an inspiring environment, or to meet potential investors in style.
Third place went to Bat Suite. They’ll be featured as a Startup Pick on inventures.eu and Crowdfunding platform wemakeit.at will give away a Crowdfunding-Package that consists of a half day crowdfunding-workshop tailored to their project with input by Crowdfunding-expert Wolfgang Gumpelmaier, further personal assistance for and during their campaign by wemakeit and a guaranteed feature in the wemakeit newsletter.
